Europe
The UN Global Compact has a strong foothold in Europe with the highest total number of UN Global Compact participants and more than 30 Local Networks. As a result, the number of COP submissions is also highest in Europe.
Local Networks in Western Europe have historically been well-established in terms of structure and operations. New Local Networks are being created mostly in Eastern Europe and these networks are gaining momentum. Today similarities and differences between Local Networks in Europe are more dependent on the country context and business environment than geography or historical background.
European Local Networks organize various activities, most often focused on learning and outreach, across all areas covered by the Ten Principles.
