Business and management schools play a key role in shaping the skills and mindsets of future business leaders, and can be powerful drivers of corporate sustainability.
Launched in 2007 during the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in Geneva, the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) has become the largest organised relationship between the United Nations and business schools.
PRME’s vision is to create a global movement and drive thought leadership on responsible management education. PRME’s mission is to transform management education and develop the responsible decision-makers of tomorrow to advance sustainable development. The initiative counts over 800 business and management-related higher education institutions as Signatory Members across over 90 countries. PRME is governed, alongside the UN Global Compact, by a Board composed of experts in academia and business.
PRME Signatory Members work with UN Global Compact participants to help advance the Sustainable Development Goals in academia, while connecting responsible businesses with higher education institutions to help recruit talent with sustainability mindsets, skills and capabilities.
PRME is the UN Global Compact's initiative for higher education institutions to engage, as a comparable Principles-based approach to integrating sustainable development. Academic institutions that are publicly recognised (i.e. legal/government recognition) and are degree-granting (with business programs provided) are eligible to join PRME. PRME does not offer membership to individuals.
