The UN Global Compact Leaders Summit (21 September, New York) brings together an international community of leaders from business, civil society, academia, Government and the United Nations to accelerate local and global business action and partnerships to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

With less than 5,000 days to meet the 17 Global Goals by the 2030 deadline, the Leaders Summit seeks to challenge the status quo and the business-as-usual mindset. Featuring progressive and exciting plenary speakers alongside SDG-themed networking opportunities, the Summit will focus on how the UN Global Compact community can deliver measurable impact for sustainable development.

By raising the ambition level, driving innovation and measuring the impact of responsible business action rooted in the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles, we can ensure a more sustainable, equitable and prosperous future for all.

The Leaders Summit will take place on Thursday, 21 September during the United Nations General Assembly week — the UN's most high-profile week of the year — at the New York Hilton Midtown, located at 1335 6th Ave, New York, NY, 10019.

The Leaders Summit programme is currently under development. Please check our website regularly as updates will be finalized over the coming months. Registered participants will also receive regular programme and speaker updates as they become available.

The registration rates for the Leaders Summit are distinguished by participant category and are listed below. The early-bird rates have now passed and regular rates will be in effect until registration closes on 13 September.

Please note that Chief Executives and civil society leaders who participate in both the UN Private Sector Forum and the Leaders Summit will receive a discount when they complete registration for both events.

Representatives from business, civil society, academia, Governments and the UN are invited to participate in the Leaders Summit. To request an invitation, please complete the online form here.

Criteria for Corporate Participation

Chief Executives and contact persons of active UN Global Compact participant companies will be invited to attend the Leaders Summit. If a company wishes to send additional representatives, or is not yet a participant of the UN Global Compact and would like to attend, a completed invitation request form may be submitted.

We kindly request that no more than five participants per company attend to allow for diverse geographic representation. Additionally, in accordance with the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, as well as the Women’s Empowerment Principles initiative, we ask that companies please send a gender-balanced delegation.

Criteria for UN and Civil Society Participation

UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes and global civil society organizations (CSOs) with a long-standing working relationship with the UN Global Compact will be invited to participate in the 2017 Leaders Summit. These participants include representatives from the organizations participating in UN Global Compact working groups, initiatives and platforms.

Criteria for Government Participation

The UN Global Compact encourages Governments to actively participate in, promote and support the Leaders Summit. Governments are invited to attend the Summit, and each UN Member State will receive invitations.

Criteria for Local Network Participation

The UN Global Compact will invite representatives from Global Compact Local Networks. Complimentary registration applies to one participant per Local Network. Additional attendees are welcome to attend, but will be charged the Global Compact Non-Business rate of 550 USD. By default, the complimentary registration is designated to each Local Network Representative. To transfer over the complimentary registration to another person from a Local Network Secretariat, please contact the Global Compact Local Network team.

The Leaders Summit is by invitation only and is open to representatives from business, civil society, academia, Governments and the UN. Invitations have been sent directly to representatives from actively engaged companies and organizations with a long-standing working relationship with the UN Global Compact. To request an invitation, please complete the online form here.

We regret that we are unable to accommodate invitation requests from individuals who do not match the participant criteria outlined above.

Yes. All participants must register and submit payment (if applicable) in full via the Leaders Summit online registration system. Details and instructions to access the registration system can be found in the invitation letter. Please be aware that emails and letters to the UN Global Compact cannot be processed and will not suffice as a substitute for online registration. Please submit the invitation request form or email leaderssummit@unglobalcompact.org to learn more about registration eligibility.

Participants will receive an email confirmation of their registration following the successful submission of payment for the registration rate.

Participants who complete registration but who do not submit payment (if applicable) will be notified of their pending payment status and given instructions on how to submit payment and finalize registration. For assistance, please contact leaderssummit@unglobalcompact.org.

Please note that registration and payment (if applicable) is required to attend the 2017 Leaders Summit. Incomplete payment or registration may result in inability to attend. Due to capacity limitations, we recommend that all those who wish to attend complete their registration as early as possible.

Yes. You may log back in here using the email address and reference number in the reminder email from the registration system.

Cancellation requests must be submitted to leaderssummit@unglobalcompact.org on or before 31 August 2017. A 10% administrative fee will be deducted from the refund. The refund will be issued in the same manner as the original payment within 30 days of the refund request submission. Refunds cannot be processed after 31 August.

Liability:

In the case of government intervention or regulation, armed conflict, strikes or any other circumstances that make it impossible or inadvisable for the 2017 Leaders Summit to take place at the time and place as announced, the participant shall waive any claim for the damage or compensation except the amount paid for registration after deduction of actual expenses incurred with the Summit, and there shall be no future liability for either party.

The Leaders Summit will be conducted in English.

Yes. The non-business registration rate will apply to interpreters. Please coordinate with the UN Global Compact by emailing leaderssummit@unglobalcompact.org.

Top executives who are not able to participate may designate additional representatives from their organization to attend the 2017 Leaders Summit. A completed invitation request form must be submitted for each additional representative. For more on Leaders Summit participation criteria, please refer to the Particpation Section above.

Yes. The same participant category registration rate will apply to Executive Assistants. Please contact leaderssummit@unglobalcompact.org to request an invitation for an Executive Assistant.

The Leaders Summit is designed to help participants co-create and communicate the opportunities related to the Global Goals and will be a highly interactive event. As a result, there are a limited number of formal speaking opportunities at the Leaders Summit. Candidates for speaking roles will be contacted directly by the event organizers.

For those participants who require a visa to attend the Leaders Summit, the UN Global Compact will assist with the process by providing a letter of support. Please note, the ultimate responsibility for securing the appropriate visa lies with each participant. The UN Global Compact is not responsible for the successful or unsuccessful procurement of visas by international participants.

During online registration for the Leaders Summit, participants may indicate that they require a visa to travel to the United States. Participants who complete registration and pay in full will then receive a letter of support from the UN Global Compact via email, which can then be submitted along with other documentation when applying for a visa. Participants should refer to their local consulate for detailed information.

Please note given the high demand during UN General Assembly week and the fact that every applicant may be subject to administrative processing, the US Department of State generally recommends an applicant apply three months in advance.

The UN Global Compact relies on registration fees and sponsorship from participants in order to cover the cost of the event. Unfortunately, there is no available budget to fund participant expenses. All transportation and lodging expenses are the responsibility of each participant.
