Description
  • UBS communicates with stakeholders on corporate responsibility and its implementation of the Global Compact principles on the firm's website (Corporate Responsibility section, see www.ubs.com/corporateresponsibility ) and in its 2005/2006 Handbook (see attachment).

The Handbook describes UBS' corporate responsibility processes, the firm's various guidelines and policies pertaining to corporate responsibility, its efforts in preventing money laundering and terrorist financing, its investment in the community, its promotion of environmental awareness, and third-party ratings. The Handbook also includes a section on the UBS workforce (see attachment) and a condensed version of UBS' environmental report (for the full version see www.ubs.com/environment)

The Corporate Responsibility section of the UBS website contains a statement from Marcel Ospel, Chairman of UBS, expressing the company's commitment to corporate sustainability and to the Global Compact. The latter is also highlighted in a separate section which includes links to UBS initiatives of relevance to the Compact.

The Corporate Responsibility website also comprises the Environment section (www.ubs.com/environment) which highlights UBS' commitment to integrating environmental considerations into all its business activities. This site provides the firm's Environmental Policy, its environmental management system, its involvement in the area of socially responsible investments and an overview of the firm's past and present performance in the environmental arena. It also includes a statement of SGS Société Générale de Surveillance SA validating UBS's Environmental Report. In addition, the Corporate Responsibility website describes UBS' investment in the communities surrounding its operations throughout the world - Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Switzerland.

Under the "Ratings" section, the website describes the assessment of UBS' corporate responsibility as evaluated by certifying bodies and independent rating agencies that assess corporate responsibility programs across the world (ISO 14001 Certificate, Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Indexes and FTSE4Good Indexes).
